Gingerbread Haka

I love this advert, it was launched in New Zealand about the same time as the Rugby World Cup was starting. Its a really simple way to get attention for the bakery of the year competition and create a buzz about something that may not otherwise receive as much publicity. The whole history of the Haka really supports the mood that they are trying to create as it lays down a challenge to the opposition. It is definitely a bit of fun but the whole idea and thinking behind it is fantastic.

It's really strange that nobody commented on this advert. I've found it quite funny and engaging, most of all really simple and effective. This sort of adverts have the potential to become viral and engage really quickly with vast audiences because of their simplicity in the proposition and the humor attached.

This is well good totally reminds me of the gingerbread man from Shrek with his gum drop buttons. Interesting how they hae taken the Haka ritual, such a popular New Zealand tradition and been able to use and adapt it succesfully to cater for there needs. It makes you laugh but there is also an element of seriousness in there, the battle is on. On top of that promoting one of there oldest and most popular sports indirectly.
